The New Braunfels Christian Academy chapter of National Honor Society (NHS) is proud to have been inducting new members since 2011. The purpose of our chapter is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote leadership and develop personal Christian character. Throughout the year, members of our chapter serve as role models for other students. In addition to the strong academic records which established the eligibility for membership, our chapter members are leaders in many student organizations and serve our school and community.
Membership is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors who have attended New Braunfels Christian Academy for at least one semester and meet the required standards in four areas of evaluation: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
SCHOLARSHIP
A student must have a high school cumulative grade point average of 3.7 or 90%. The students meeting the scholarship criteria are invited to complete a Student Activity Information Form (distributed at an announced meeting for eligible students only).
LEADERSHIP & SERVICE
The completed Student Activity Information Form provides the Faculty Council with information and a history of the candidate’s leadership, extracurricular, community service and employment experiences.
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Members must complete a minimum of 12 service hours per semester, to include both chapter and individual service projects. Chapter Service Projects will be selected by the chapter to meet the following criteria:
to fulfill a need within the school or community,
have the support or the administration and the faculty,
be appropriate and educationally defensible and
be well planned, organized and executed.
MAINTAINING STANDARDS
NHS members are required to maintain the same level of performance in all criteria that led to their selection, including scholarship, service, leadership and character. Those members who fail to meet these requirements may be dismissed from NHS.
